Magsoft Corporation was founded in February 1986 by our President Shep Salon and our Vice President Philippe Wendling. For 18 years the company was located on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Magsoft was an anchor company in the RPI Incubator program. In October 2004, we moved about 25 miles north of Troy to Ballston Spa, New York.

Magsoft markets leading Computer Aided Engineering [CAE] simulation tools for computing physical phenomena. We offer a variety of modelling software to address your designing needs and we offer the following solutions:

  • Electromagnetic
  • Electromechanical
  • Thermal
  • Electrical Circuit, Electronic and Power System

Our turn-key product is Flux. Flux primarily utilizes the Finite Element Method [FEM], but also incorporates the Boundary Element Method [BEM] where advantageous. Flux solves electromagnetic, electromechanical and thermal problems. Flux readily provides either steady-state or transient solutions.

Motor-CAD utilizes lumped-parameter circuits to solve the thermal physics in electric machines [either motors or generators]. Motor-CAD provides either steady-state or transient solutions.

SPEED utilizes lumped-parameter circuits to solve the electromechanical physics in electric machines [either motors or generators]. SPEED provides a variety of machine template solutions.

Portunus is a schematic capture simulation software combining electromechanical components along with the corresponding drives and controls for a complete power system solution.

CIVA is an analytical simulation software for NDE or NDT probe or system development. CIVA has 3 physics solutions available with ultrasonic testing [UT], eddy current testing [ET] or radiographic testing [RT].

InCa is a fast calculator for impedance and field computations where there are no nonlinear steels present. InCa is primarily used for conductor layout, PCB or bus design.

GiD is a pre- and post- processing interface which allows one to easily explore the development of numerical methods. You can concentrate on physics and let GiD handle the creation of geometries, meshing and the viewing of your physic solutions.

If your work involves electrical devices, and you are challenged with understanding the behavior of electric or magnetic phenomena, then Magsoft's suite of CAE packages can provide you with the capability to virtually prototype your ideas. Whether you are doing primary research, initial device design or device optimization these tools can make your job easier and your work more productive.

Magsoft Corporation has a proven history of building relationships by addressing the needs of our customers. We succeed because we are committed to bringing you precise design solutions that help you increase efficiency, extend technical capabilities and reduce product time-to-market.
